Join Our Team: Installation and Service Technician – Kansas City

Primary Role

Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic communication systems, including but not limited to:

  • Security/Access Control
  • CCTV and IP Security Cameras
  • Alarm Intrusion
  • Audiovisual Displays and Projection Systems
  • Control Systems
  • Sound Systems
  • Drive-Thru Intercom Systems

The technician is responsible for installing products in the most efficient and effective manner, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance. All installations must meet the highest quality standards while maintaining a professional and safe working environment. The technician is also responsible for communicating system performance to the customer.


Responsibilities

1. Installations

a. Ensures that systems are installed per plans, specifications, and/or the scope of work, in compliance with local and national codes.
b. Assists with all cable, device, and head-end installation; performs system programming, project site checkout, and testing.
c. Tasks include equipment placement, mounting, system cabling, and termination of devices per system diagrams.
d. Regularly completes assigned tasks on time, on budget, and within quality standards.

2. Service Support

a. Provides service support for clients as needed.
b. Participates in weekend on-call service rotations.

3. Documentation

a. Documents project changes and notes opportunities for improvement.
b. Accurately tracks time worked on projects, service tickets, installation tickets, and inventory items through the CRM platform.

4. Training and Support for Customers

a. Interfaces with clients on system functionality, training, project issues, and planning.

5. Ongoing Skills Development

a. Participates in ongoing project training with vendors.
b. Attends and completes training programs as requested.


Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s Degree in Computer Networking or Electronics, or a minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
  • Experience with Avigilon Access Control and Avigilon Security Cameras preferred.
  • Familiarity with Alarm Intrusion, Card Access Systems, IP Video Surveillance Systems, and/or Audiovisual Systems is a plus.
  • Experience in field servicing and troubleshooting computer networks preferred.
  • General knowledge of construction processes to interface with other trades and ensure timely completion of milestones.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Avigilon and Crestron preferred; ability to write DSP code is a plus.
  • AVIXA and NSCA Certifications are a plus.
  • Valid state Driver’s License required.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands and fingers.
  • Regularly lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
