Position Overview
The Security Systems Architect sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and operations, partnering closely with Account Managers and project teams to design comprehensive physical security solutions.
This role is responsible for translating client requirements into technically sound, scalable, and deployable security systems. The ideal candidate understands both the engineering side of security systems and the practical realities of field deployment. Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid / Travel as required).
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & System Design
- Design enterprise physical security architectures including:
- Access control systems
- Video surveillance platforms
- Intrusion detection systems
- Supporting network infrastructure
- Develop scalable and secure system designs aligned with client requirements and industry standards
- Provide technical leadership on complex security deployments
Pre-Sales Engineering
- Partner with Account Managers during the sales process to develop client solutions
- Review RFPs, specifications, and project documentation to determine solution eligibility and technical approach
- Translate customer requirements into system designs and project scopes
- Build detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs) and supporting documentation
Technical Project Support
- Provide technical guidance to operations teams throughout project execution
- Assist with system configuration, programming, and commissioning when required
- Support troubleshooting and system optimization during implementation
- Help ensure solutions are designed for efficient installation and long-term maintainability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with sales, engineering, and project management teams
- Act as a technical resource for both internal teams and clients
- Support continuous improvement of security design standards and best practices
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the physical security industry
- Experience designing enterprise security systems including:
- Access control
- Video surveillance
- Intrusion detection
- Experience reviewing RFPs, technical specifications, and security drawings
- Strong understanding of security system architecture and integration
- Experience building BOMs and system designs
- Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
- Strong communication and documentation skills

Experience with enterprise physical security platforms and manufacturers such as:

- Milestone XProtect
- OpenEye Web Services

- Axis Communications
Additional preferred experience:
- Knowledge of networking principles related to security systems
- Experience supporting system commissioning or programming
- Industry certifications such as ASIS PSP, CPP, or manufacturer certifications
